CHEN RENHONG

Accepted to Graduate School of Informatics, Kyoto University

I chose Ehle for its convenient location and the low living cost in town. School had various scholarship programs, which could help me a lot, too. Once I started school, I noticed it was a very good environment. Classmates were nice to each other, and the career guidance was great. I was initially thinking of applying to postgraduate program at Osaka University, but then, my mentor told me, maybe Kyoto University would be a better choice for me. I researched the school and it seemed like my mentor was right. So, I switched my choice to Kyoto University, and with my mentor’s help, I passed. There were so many Ehle classes I found useful, but among them, career design was the best. It taught how the application process would go, time planning, personal statement, and interview practices. To all the international students who are working to get into a Japanese university now, I’d like to say there’s never enough time if you don’t know what you’d need to do. Set your goal, keep working on things you need to do to get there.

■Comment from the Mentor■
The student was a high achiever and always very motivated to study. After our career guidance class, she immediately came to sign up for an individual career guidance session, which we offer along with the career guidance classes. She always enthusiastically listened to my suggestions and advice and revised her agenda to make sure she’d complete all of it. Her high skills and commitment must have brought her the success.
