Precautions and contact information during the summer vacation

In Japan, summer vacation is said to be the “Tennozan” of entrance exams (an important opportunity that can be the difference between success and failure). How you spend these 30 days will have a big impact on how you improve your grades going forward. Do not miss this great opportunity to review what you’ve learned so far. We hope that this will be a time of learning for the future, whether you are thinking about going to higher education or looking for a job. Please take care of your health and safety during the summer vacation period, by following these precautions.

Summer vacation period:

Thursday, August 1st – Sunday, September 1st
* The school will be open during the summer vacation except for Sundays and the following days
Closed days: Saturday, August 10th – Sunday, August 18th
* All school buildings will be closed during this period.

Contact information Saturday, August 10th – Sunday, August 18th

Precautions

  • Please submit a travel notification in advance if you plan to leave Japan (temporary return or overseas travel). Make sure to inform us of your contact information (not only your home phone or email address, but also any SNS messenger services information where you can be reached at any time, and an emergency contact such as a friend in Japan), as well as your flight information (copy of e-ticket, etc.).
  • Part-time work of up to 8 hours per day is permitted only during long vacations, with a maximum of 40 hours per week. Be sure to not exceed the permitted hours.
  • Students who are about to go on to higher education or find a job should prepare thoroughly during this period. How you spend your summer vacation will have a big impact on whether you pass the entrance exam or get a job offer.
  • Human rights violations and troubles on SNS (Twitter, Facebook, LINE, Instagram, YouTube, LinkedIn, etc.), blogs, online bulletin boards, and by email are increasing. Please do not write words or post pictures that slander others or share your own information lightheartedly.
  • Traffic accidents involving international students are increasing. Be especially careful of traffic violations such as ignoring traffic lights, riding a bicycle while holding an umbrella, or while using a mobile phone. The only way to avoid being either a perpetrator or a victim in a traffic accident is to follow the rules and be careful.
  • Water-related accidents increase in the summer. When the weather is sunny and hot, you may want to go swimming, but please be mindful of your health and stay away from no swimming zones. Even if it looks safe, there are many dangerous places in the sea or rivers, such as deep and fast currents.
  • Problems caused by the use of drugs such as narcotics and stimulants are increasing. Be careful not to give in to temptation.
  • There are many infectious diseases that increase in the summer. Hand-foot-and-mouth disease, herpangina, and pharyngoconjunctival fever (pool fever) are known as the three major infectious diseases in summer, and although generally thought to occur more often in children, infections in adults are also increasing. Lately, the number of new coronavirus infections is gradually increasing. Don’t let your guard down just yet. In addition to the coronavirus, this year, streptococcal infections and sexually transmitted diseases are also on the rise, so please be careful.
  • In summer, problems and accidents due to carelessness are more likely to occur. Even if you are careful, you may get involved in an unexpected accident. First of all, try to be calm and have a fun summer vacation.

About temporary overseas travel during the summer vacation

About temporary overseas travel during the summer vacation

Two months has passed since the start of the semester. We believe most of you have gotten used to the school life.
Now, following the easing of Japan’s immigration restrictions on June 1st, many of you are considering returning to your home countries during the summer vacation.

It is true that the number of people infected with the coronavirus in Japan continues to decline, but at the expert meeting of the Ministry of Health, Labor and Welfare, concerns were raised that the effect of immunity obtained by vaccination etc. will decrease over time. There are also concerns that the number of infected people will increase during summer.

We do not recommend unnecessary and unurgent travel under these circumstances. However, this does not apply to matters such as condolence that the school recognizes as a public absence.

If you have special circumstances that require you to return home temporarily, please follow the school rules and understand the following:

  1. Students who wish to return to their home countries temporarily should consult with their mentor in advance.
  2. Understand that after returning to your country, you may be unable to re-enter Japan due to sudden changes of the situation.
  3. If you do not attend the classes, except during the summer vacation period (July 30th to August 31st), you will be marked as absent regardless of the reason.
  4. Face-to-face classes have started on Monday, June 20th. There are no online classes even while staying abroad.
  5. Even if you cannot continue studying abroad, it will be your own responsibility.
  6. Be sure to submit a “travel notification”.
  7. Let us know your contact information for when you are in your home country. (Not only your home phone and email address, but also SNS or messenger where we can contact you at any time, as well as emergency contact information such as friends in Japan.)

At the same time, please continue to wear a mask to prevent infection, wash your hands and gargle, enjoy your meals in silence when eating out, and refrain from eating out with a large number of people. Please be conscious of your actions.

Notice of full-scale face-to-face classes resumption

Full-scale face-to-face classes will be resumed on Monday, June 20th.

We understand that you might be worried, but we believe that there are lessons learned in a classroom that cannot be achieved on distance. By directly connecting to your classmates and teachers, we hope you will feel safe and be able to grow. As we resume the full-scale face-to-face classes, Ehle Institute will work on preventive measures to reduce the risk of infection as much as possible.

The measures to prevent infection are the same as when attending mixed classes, but please be more thorough than ever.

  • ・Always wear a mask inside of the school
  • ・Measure your body temperature and use hand disinfection when entering the school buildings
  • ・Enjoy your meals in silence
  • ・Manage your overall everyday health (washing of hands, gargling, regular body temperature checks)

Prohibition of temporary overseas travel during Golden Week Holiday

April 19th, 2022

To all students of Ehle Institute

Principal Taeko Kimura

Prohibition of temporary overseas travel during Golden Week Holiday

The new semester has finally begun. The start of a semester is a deciding point for your future, and thus a very important time. In Japan, “Golden Week” starts at the end of April. However, temporary return to your home country or overseas travel during Golden Week is prohibited.

The exemption being congratulatory or condolence matters that the school recognizes as a public absence.

The number of positive COVID-19 cases among young people is increasing even though the number of newly infected people is decreasing as a whole. Also, entry from overseas is still restricted and re-entry may be prohibited at any time. There is a risk that you will not be able to come back to Japan. If you cannot re-enter Japan, you will not be able to continue studying abroad. Online classes are not permitted from overseas. Please do not take this lightly.

In addition, please continue to prevent infection by wearing a mask, washing your hands and gargle. Please enjoy your meals in silence when eating out, and refrain from eating out with a large number of people. We ask you to please be aware of your actions.
