About temporary overseas travel during the summer vacation

Two months has passed since the start of the semester. We believe most of you have gotten used to the school life.
Now, following the easing of Japan’s immigration restrictions on June 1st, many of you are considering returning to your home countries during the summer vacation.

It is true that the number of people infected with the coronavirus in Japan continues to decline, but at the expert meeting of the Ministry of Health, Labor and Welfare, concerns were raised that the effect of immunity obtained by vaccination etc. will decrease over time. There are also concerns that the number of infected people will increase during summer.

We do not recommend unnecessary and unurgent travel under these circumstances. However, this does not apply to matters such as condolence that the school recognizes as a public absence.

If you have special circumstances that require you to return home temporarily, please follow the school rules and understand the following:

  1. Students who wish to return to their home countries temporarily should consult with their mentor in advance.
  2. Understand that after returning to your country, you may be unable to re-enter Japan due to sudden changes of the situation.
  3. If you do not attend the classes, except during the summer vacation period (July 30th to August 31st), you will be marked as absent regardless of the reason.
  4. Face-to-face classes have started on Monday, June 20th. There are no online classes even while staying abroad.
  5. Even if you cannot continue studying abroad, it will be your own responsibility.
  6. Be sure to submit a “travel notification”.
  7. Let us know your contact information for when you are in your home country. (Not only your home phone and email address, but also SNS or messenger where we can contact you at any time, as well as emergency contact information such as friends in Japan.)

At the same time, please continue to wear a mask to prevent infection, wash your hands and gargle, enjoy your meals in silence when eating out, and refrain from eating out with a large number of people. Please be conscious of your actions.
